Overview

TestYourChoice ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to clear privacy practices. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the site, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information we collect

We collect or process limited information to operate, improve, and fund the service:

  • Analytics data: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure page views and interactions such as scroll depth, time on page, quiz starts, selected-answer correctness, quiz completion, score percentage, correct answer counts, and share clicks. We use this information in aggregate to understand what works and improve the site.
  • Advertising data: We load Google AdSense to display and measure ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Browser storage: We use your browser's local storage for theme preference, recent quiz result display, article bookmarks, the display name you choose before a quiz, and any pending score challenge from a shared link. This local storage is kept on your device and is not sent to our own servers.
  • Display name: Before a quiz you may enter a name to label your result. It is optional — you can play without one. It is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted to us.
  • Email contact: If you contact us by email or by using the contact page's mailto form, your name, email address, message content, and any details you include are processed through your email app and email provider so we can respond.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not require account creation or registration
  • We do not store full quiz answer histories or result pages on our own servers
  • We do not ask for sensitive personal information to use quizzes
  • We do not sell your personal data
  • We do not receive or store the display name you enter before a quiz

Display names and shared results

Before starting a quiz you can enter a display name. Entering one is optional, and you can play without it. The name is stored only in your browser's local storage, is limited to 24 characters, and is never sent to our servers.

If you choose to share your result, the link we generate carries your result in its address so the person you send it to can actually see it. That link includes the display name you entered along with your score, accuracy, best streak, and time taken. For example:

Three things follow from this, and you should know all of them before you share:

  • Anyone holding the link can read the name. If you would rather not publish a name, use a nickname, or skip the name step and share anyway.
  • Scores in a shared link are self-reported. The result travels in the address, so whoever holds a link can edit it. We label shared results as shared rather than presenting them as verified.
  • We remove the name before analytics sees it. When a shared link is opened, the name is stripped from the address we report to Google Analytics, so the page view is never recorded under a path containing someone's name.

If someone shares a result with you and you take the quiz to beat their score, we store their name and score in your browser so the result page can tell you whether you passed them. That record is limited to a single quiz, expires after 24 hours, and is cleared as soon as the comparison is shown.

You can remove all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for testyourchoice.com.

Consent and script loading

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, our Google Consent Mode defaults advertising and analytics storage, ad personalisation, and ad user data signals to denied before Google Analytics or Google AdSense is requested. A Google-certified European regulations message may then ask for the visitor's choices and update those signals. If no choice is received, the regional denied defaults remain in place.

Outside those regions, the Google consent signals default to granted and Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Google Fonts may load when a page loads. A browser's privacy controls, Google Ads Settings, or blocking tools can also limit cookies or requests. Consent requirements and available controls vary by location; this explanation describes the site's technical defaults rather than providing legal advice.

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
